Love

Love is dark red
It smells like a rose
It tastes like cherries
It sounds like a flute
It feels like silk
It looks like a heart
Love is forever
--- Breana P.

Sadness

Sadness is a smoky blue
It smells like dusty library books
It tastes like stale popcorn
It sounds like an unanswered phone
It feels like teardrops dripping down my face
It looks like my dog's sad brown eyes when she can't come
Sadness is low fat, sugar free ice cream
--- Claire H.

University Of Texas

Fear is embodied by burnt orange
It smells like funk
It tastes like sweat
It sounds like thousands of screaming fans
It feels like pain
It looks like a raging bull
Fear is the University of Texas at Austin football team
--- Micah O.

Sad is gray

Sad is gray
It smells like rain
It sounds like a cracking window pane
It feels like a broken heart
It looks like a cloudy day
Sad is being far, far away
--- Selina N.

Food Tales

"Hi I'm Bob the Potato."

"And I'm Larry the Nacho."

"I'm MC B the rapper"

"I'm Hermando the egg."

"We teach about how you serve God, and here's our laptop, techno."

"Hi Kids! Lets see what e-mails we have today."

"Wait!"

"What Hermando?"

"I'm Jamacin, anyways here's one from Lucy age 10.

'Hi Larry I've tried to teach my little sister Isiz about Adam and Eve. Well here's a little story. When God created Adam, he loved the world! God gave Adam all the animals to name. Like the lion or the tiger. God thought He would take one of Adam's ribs and make a women named Eve. They both got married and ate from trees. God told them not to eat from one tree. That one tree had a snake on it that tricked Eve. Eve told Adam that the fruit was good so he ate it too. God was not happy so Adam and Eve hid from Him. God found then and kicked them out of the Garden of Eden.' "

"Well that's all."

"I'm Larry."

"I'm Bob."

"I'm MC B."

"I'm Hermando."

"I'm Techno"

"Wait, and I'm Jamacin, Bye"

Poem ---By Isiz, 4th Grade

I knew it was spring.

On Monday, I saw one beautiful flower that was
on the road.

On Tuesday, I saw two good Golden dogs
in the park.

On Wednesday, I saw three singing birds
in the tree.

On Thursday, I saw four white bunnies
in the woods.

On Friday, I saw five nice children
in the swimming pool.

That's how I knew it was spring.

Cultivate ---By Ben B., 11th Grade

Trust in the Lord and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

---Psalm 37:3

The sun, as hot as hell as the farmer plants the seed.
Water, like tears, help nurture the seed as it begins to grow day after day.
The farmers, a lost soul now saved by the water of grace, just before he began to wither away.

A seed without noursihment, black, dead, lost for eternity.
The seed with nourishment, a small piece of life in the middle
of a dark world.

Just like a single spark can start a wildfire, so can a single seed grow a gorgeous flower
which can help spread beauty
in a lost and dead world.

Hope is not hard to find, but hard to hold on to.

The farmer, now a flower in heave.
The seed, a nurturing farmer planting seeds all over the world.
The water, rain like tears of many crying faces.
The sun, fading as hell starts losing grip on the farmer's mind.

Cultivate.
